Why?

As you may know that the government is cutting the funding in education for Deaf children by £4 million. That is a huge amount, which could put children’s education at risk. Before I started this youth project I attended lots of different courses such as: Welfare Officer, safeguarding and first aid so I can take my time researching what is missing for the Deaf young people. I am a Qualified Sports Coach with Level 3 football certificate, Level 2 Multi – Sports and many more. I have also arranged a meeting with schools and GFA (Gloucestershire Football Association) to make sure our plan is suitable for everyone involved. Firstly I would like to thank GFA for their funding to be able to help me to support the deaf youth project. I would like to thank Bristol City Deaf Football Club for their support to keep this going. Be aware that there is no Deaf youth team in Bristol and I would like to be the first person to set up a team for the youth. I have done about 7 football sessions in a Deaf school so far and there are roughly about 10-15 players per session. They seem to enjoy it very much by showing their smiling faces, and their eyes light up when they learnt some new skills/drills, which enable to help them to become a better sports person. I would like to keep this going and show Bristol that we have an amazing Deaf youth team here, and we are PROUD to be Deaf. At the moment we don’t have much funding left, so I am trying to get as much funding as possible to help Deaf children to get involved in sports. I also want to support their future opportunities in sport, as I know how hard it can be from my childhood.

Who?

I'm Ben. I've always loved sport but football has always been my passion. Yes I am completely Deaf, but I want to prove to the youth team that nothing can hold you back!! If you want to do something then do it, don't give up.

How am I raising this money?

On August 18th 2018 I am taking part in the Tough Mudder Challenge, it's a 10mile run with 20+ obstacles. Any support you can offer would be much appreciated. Please Sponsor me by donating, any amount would be much appreciated. All money raised will go to support Deaf children to get motivated in sports, as I have covered the cost of entering myself.
