During the week leading up to my wedding day last June, I felt a feeling that I had felt before, just before I found out I was expecting my daughter Ruby. It turned out I was pregnant again. I did a pregancy test and was thrilled to discover my husband and I were expecting a sibling for our little Ruby. However, the joy was short lived, as on that same day I tragically miscarried. I telephoned the doctors to inform them and was offered a telephone appointment back. The doctor who called me was extremely matter of fact and told me there was nothing they could do. Amidst all the different emotions I was feeling (anger, sadness, devastation, stress of my upcoming nuptuals), I realised we had not been offered any sort of support by the doctors, referral to anywhere where we could talk about what had happened, or any scan to ensure my pregnancy was officially over. I continue to feel all the same emotions that I felt then and that there wasn’t any proper support given, not just to me, but to my husband as well. It transpires that our friend, Amy Everatt, had set up her charity HUG (Help Us Grieve) to offer support to families going through similar experiences like we have. I have decided that I want to run the Newark Half Marathon to raise awareness and money for this charity as it is one so close to our hearts and I know that it is a more than worthy cause ❤️
