    Story

    A Moment To Reflect..

Ever stop and think how fortunate we are? Like, how fortunate we really are? As much as we may knock the system, we are also protected by it. The NHS, Social Services, Housing Benefits, Job Seekers Allowance or whatever they're calling it these days, it's all there as a back up for rainy days we may face.

Visiting somewhere like India really opens up your eyes and mind to what a real rainy day could look like. Suddenly, all of that protection is gone. No bubbles, no frills, just life.

    Life in Rural India..

Homes are traditionally built up of a sole breadwinner (the husband), a housewife, and children. In some instances the breadwinner extends his responsibility and will take care of other dependents; be they parents, younger siblings or even unmarried sisters. That's a lot of responsibility on one set of shoulders and this is often the case.

    How This Began..

My family visit India every few years, more frequently when my grandparents were alive (may Allah grant them peace). In our travels we witnessed first hand when people pass away, the breadwinners, and how this leaves a massive hole in the lives of the ones left behind and can completely bring a normal functioning household like ours to poverty. This places the wives and children of the deceased in a very bad way, in some cases not knowing where the next meal will come from. Hardship and struggle that you and I cannot even dare to imagine.

Seeing this drove my father and a few others to begin helping where they could.

A Little Effort Goes A Long Way...

It will be the 10th Ramdhan this year where my father sets out in his efforts to collect for the Widowed families in our village in India, Borli Panchatan, to simply help where we can,

Watching my father do this year in year out, knocking on doors and asking family and friends and collecting inspired me to want to help this cause. We set up a JustGiving page last year where we raise an incredible £935 bringing the total collection to just over £3,000 which helped families through the year!

    Where Your Money Will Go...

We know we can't resolve all issues for these affected families but the little bit we raise helps put a smile on their faces and gives them a little bit of a helping hand and hope.

Your generous donations will go towards helping the affected families with food supplies and helping with daily life and school fees for the children etc.

You can donate Zakkat for this cause and no amount is too small.

Bismillah to Year 3 on JustGiving and let's see if we can help raise the bar this year and really put a smile on their faces this Eid and through the rest of the year.

Thank you all in advance and may your efforts and kindness be rewarded.
