On 29th September 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and as a result have had a mastectomy. I am in the process of finding out what future treatments will involve. Whilst the experience has and continues to be extremely difficult, I am determined to raise money to support other women in a similar position. Having significant prior experience within the NHS providing psychotherapy I am keen to complement the existing systems with regard to providing emotional support to women and their partners during the early stages of diagnosis. This may by in the form of a new support group, therapy or developing an existing charity or service. As I progress through my treatment my mapping of services will increase and I will be in a unique position to identify the area of most need. I will use all monies raised to help me achieve this. I am keen to start the fund raising as early as possible. I am looking for sponsorship and participants to join me on my journey to Everest Base Camp at Easter 2019. All monies raised will go towards my cause as the expedition will be self funded. The expedition is named Breast4Everest and all willing participants, including 'mastectomees', will pose for a calendar girls shot on the arrival at Base Camp to raise awareness.
