Story
Longwood Boat Club would like to install a defibrillator on the outside wall of the club house. It is intended to be a public facility cared for by the Boat Club which is positioned on the side of the canal towpath at the top of the Rushall Locks near Aldridge.
The area is a rural spot away from general medical assistance. Every week many walkers and fishermen pass by so this piece of vital equipment would serve much of the local community. Longwood Boat Club is on the edge of a golf course so it would serve golfers too. Please help us finance this essential item it may save a life.
Defibrillators are normally located in workplaces and public spaces like airports, shopping centres, community centres, and train stations. These defibrillators are known as public access defibrillators (PADs) as anyone can use them.
If you need a defibrillator in an emergency, the 999 call handler will often know where one is and tell you, so you can ask someone to get it. By performing CPR and using a defibrillator, you’ll give someone the best possible chance of survival, but there isn’t always a defibrillator close enough to help save the life of someone having a cardiac arrest.
That is why we feel one would be well placed in this rural area.
