Weʼve raised £5,933 to send a copy of "Brexit: What the Hell Happens Now?" by Ian Dunt to every MP, MSP and member of the Wales and Northern Ireland Assemblies

Funded on Saturday, 7th January 2017

    Story

    WE ARE NOW FULLY FUNDED.
EXTRA LAST-MINUTE STRETCH GOAL: £5918 WOULD ALLOW US TO ALSO COVER THE LONDON ASSEMBLY

As ever, any unused funds will go to the Book Trust.

YOU CAN STILL HELP by signing the cover letter at brexitbook.club/sign.html

Since the EU referendum the tone of debate among MPs has often shown a worrying lack of engagement with the real complexities of negotiating Brexit.

The dangers of a mismanaged Brexit should worry everyone - both Leave and Remain supporters.

In a bid to raise the quality of debate, we will deliver a copy of "Brexit: What the Hell Happens Now?" by Ian Dunt to every MP, complete with a covering letter stating the aims of the campaign. We’ll ask them to read it and ask them to set out their thoughts on the key issues raised.

It's become clear that the devolved assemblies will also have a significant role in determining our national negotiating position - so to help them hold the government to task, we will also send each member of the devolved national assemblies and Scottish parliament.

See http://www.brexitbook.club/ for more on why we think this is important.

The publishers, Canbury Press, have kindly pledged to match fund every book, contributing half of the cost before postage and crowdfunding fees.

Any excess money after sending the books will be donated to The Book Trust.

Here’s how the money will be spent:

    Delivery: £1.80 per book

Each book costs £7.99, reduced to £3.99 after match funding by Canbury Press

Crowdfunding fees are 5% (approximately £0.29 per book)

Payment handling fees are 1.3% - 1.45% per pledge (or £0.17 for debit cards). Assuming everyone who pledges donates enough for one book and half use debit cards, that’s £0.13 on average per book.

Which means we need to raise £6.09 for every book we send

We're in the final 24 hours of fundraising now and there's only £540 left to raise to meet our final stretch goal which is the Scottish Parliament. It would be great if you could co-sign the cover letter for your MP (see http://brexitbook.club/sign.html) as if we can send each book with a letter from a constituent it will carry more weight with MPs. To sign, please email brexitbookclub@gmail.com with your name, first line of address, postcode and the name of your MP. Thanks again!
