6 years ago my cousin(Sammy) sadly pass away 11 days before her 32snd birthday. So on her birthday I did street party type bbq, we had a house hold stereo/speakers outside on a table vai extension cord, a small bqq and lit some lanterns. People came and showed more support we ever could of asked for. The following year I did the same thing but this time hired a bigger sound system and djs, had slush puppy machine, popcorn and candyfloss. Family and friends spread the word and the turn out was amazing. Once again people who grew up togeather 'but haven't seen each other since ethier school or moving area or just growing apart with everyday life' were united once again. Enjoying the day, sharing stories new and old. They'll kids meeting each other and making new bonds and friendships. The day was beautiful and amazing, our family and community really did gain unity from it all but as the pain of Sammy passing was still fresh to us it was hard to keep doing it every year. I think in a way it reminded/rewoke the pain of some family members to much amd was very hard to deal with. The request I got the following year from friends and the community to do again was hard to denie as I saw how it brought back an uplifting community spirit I haven't seen around my area in year prior to all this. So the following 2 years I changed the name(BRoZFEST) and date of the event, I involed the community and gave the opportunity for people to set up small stores selling such as cakes drinks food face painting ect. Last year we hire a stage and had local performances. I made the change of date/name so it did not affect or remind the family as much but try to keep the community spirit and unity that came from it all. This year I want to do the same again but finding funding a problem, I now only work part time and having problems getting my hands on the money to put things in place such as hiring all the entertainment, flyers ect. Any help at all would be great and apprishated. Thanks
