Hi I am Callum and I have signed up to a 4 week expedition to Borneo with Camps International via my school. The trip will take place in August 2020 which is great timing as i will have finished my GSCE's.

This trip will involve me helping local community projects at Mantanani which is one of the poorest regions with the highest unemployment levels. I will be taking part in activities such as digging foundations, laying bricks, plastering and painting and installing bathroom facilities for visitors toilets and making furniture.

For the habitat conservation I will be based at Batu Puteh which is a haven for widlife such as orangutans, elephants and proboscis monkeys. I will be involved in such things as planting trees to help with the deforestation, collecting seeds and monitoring wildlife on the kinabatangan river.

I will then be based at the Bongkud village helping out at a playschool where they are continuing to help to provide a safe and stimulating environment for the young children to learn and play. This project will be close to my heart as i see my mum work with this age group everyday at home with her childminding business. Here i will again be helping with building work and creating play areas and landscaping.

The final part of my trip will involve something which i discovered in 2017 a week scuba diving getting to see amazing scenes below the water surface and hopefully seeing some turtles dolphins and fishes of all different colours and sizes.

As well as doing cake sales, sweet sales, odd jobs, baby sitting, dog walking anything i possibly can I am leaving this page open to track the progress i make and in the hope that anyone feels able to help me on my way. The total cost of the trip is £4700 I am splitting the target up into the installments i need to pay to make it achievable for myself.
