Weʼve raised £0 to Bring students from Parkland Florida to our region to help us confront youth violence.

    Story

The Cambs Youth Consultation Panel works with the Police and Local Authorities to represent young people across Cambridgeshire.

The panel is made up of young people aged 13 - 16 years and is supported predominantly by the Police (Cambridgeshire Constabulary) and the Police & Crime Commissioner.

When the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting happened on the 14th February 2018 we were all shocked and shaken by what we saw and what we heard. A 'thoughts and prayers' response didn't seem enough for us. So we have thrown ourselves into a campaign that will bring eight students and two adults to the UK on a two week visit.

We are also fund raising to donate money to the school community to help families and students afford counselling to deal with the aftermath of post-traumatic stress and bereavement.

The money that you donate to this page will help to bring 8 remarkable students (and 2 chaperones) from Parkland Florida to Cambridgeshire.

These students will get the benefit of our hospitality and good will to help them to recover from the awful tragedy of February 2018.

Additionally these young people will meet with and speak to our young people to help prevent the growth in youth violence and knife crimes that we are seeing in our schools and local communities.

This is a bold international endeavour to reduce violent crime that affects young people and will provide a substantial benefit across Cambridgeshire South.

Our efforts are being supported by Spotted in Ely, by Tesco Ely, and by Sigma Printing and Embroidery. Please come down to meet us and give only what you can afford. Many thanks,

Ok - it's early days - but we are planning to host five regional abseiling events. At this stage we are focusing on Lancashire, North Yorkshire, Bristol (Avon & Somerset), on the Sussex/Kent border and Edinburgh in Scotland. We want young people from surrounding schools to join in and raise sponsorship to support these events (there will be ten participants at each event). This is the initial blue print - but there are going to be other sponsored events too. Like tandem sky-diving!

Ok - so we're a positive action youth group. We have members aged 13 to 16 and we work to make our immediate community a better place for young people. We work hard to break down the barriers that an age gap can create and the prejudices of young and old people.
