Story
On 22nd/ 23rd September 2018, a team of three intrepid supporters, Gary Roberts, Nathalie Roberts and Robin Beck will walk 50 miles of the North Norfolk Coast, to (hopefully) walk their way to a pot of much-needed funds for the rescue dogs at Canine Welfare.
Canine Welfare Rescue Centre near Hacheston in Suffolk has been rescuing and re-homing dogs since 1992. They take in dogs for various reasons, when the dogs owners have passed away or become ill, family separation or housing issues. They provide a much needed service for people , yet they receive no funding! Running costs are extremely high as they have to cover vet bills, rent , electric, food, 24 hour staff, maintenance etc. Canine Welfare NEVER give up on a dog and dogs will stay in their care until a forever home is found - they have a non destruct policy and never put a dog down, no matter how long they're in their care.
What's heartbreaking is that they have so many fantastic dogs and have several dogs that have been waiting over 3 long years for a home!
The sad fact is that so many people are buying dogs on line from irresponsible breeders and puppy farms, if you look on line right now on Gumtree, Pets4Homes you will see there are hundreds of dogs just in our area that are up for sale, meaning our rescue dogs are constantly overlooked. Often people buy a dog without knowing the needs and training of a dog , they don't give the dog any guidance, enough exercise or spend enough time with them, they then have a dog they can't manage or no longer commit to and hand it over to the rescue centre, BUT then some people have a view there must be something wrong with a rescue dog if it was given up so they go and buy a puppy and the circle starts again, this needs to change.
We're doing this walk as we have rehomed dogs from Canine Welfare and volunteered for them, so we see first hand how dedicated they are. They never stop, they are there for the dogs 24 hours a day , 7 days a week, 365 days of the year - they need and very much deserve your support.
All desperately needed funds we're able to raise will go towards the ongoing care of the rescue dogs.
On behalf of our rescue dogs and Canine Welfare - thank you!

6 years agoWe are 76% in, we could still do with a little more to make a real difference at the rescue centre. Any amount, no matter how small, makes a difference. This sort of money would cover one emergency operation, or getting an abused dog back on track. If all goes well and no dogs come in, it will cover food, rent and bills for a month and a bit. Thank you all for being so supportive of Emma. We walked for a weekend; she works day in day out, in all weather, unable to take the same amount of time off we take for granted. Thank you xxx

6 years agoWe are now all back in work (though my right knee is protesting still). It seems strange that we don't have this challenge to look forward to now. However, my heart skips a beat every time I see a new donation come in. It's not very often that I look at my computer and weep but you guys have managed this feat quite a few times over the past few days, thank you! Today we learned that Bluebelle has found a foster home; this is why we did this walk, to continue to achieve second chances for our furry friends. Keep sharing this page! Thanks xxx

6 years agoI have just got home from Norfolk and thought I would check this page. I am so happy we are a nearer to our original target. Seeing the money go up little by little gives me so much joy, it's like having an early Christmas presents with every single donation. Attached is a pic of our second day of walking (for some reason, I can only share one picture per update... So a huge thank you to all of you, those who have donated, those who are about to donate and those who've supported the team through 2 challenging but rewarding days. Thank you!
