Did you know that Cardiff is home to hundreds of refugees?

The refugee community in Cardiff is rapidly growing. People from across the middle east are fleeing their homes from war, starvation and injustice to seek safety and comfort in the confines of the UK.

Our plan as an ISoc is to try and feed as many refugees as possible every month in Cardiff for as long as possible. We hope that insha’Allah this can become a long standing project, that carries on from this years ISoc to the next and so forth.

The current plan comprises of feeding at least 50 refugees in Cardiff every month in one particular organisation. How often we can feed this group of 50 people in one month depends on the amount we can raise together insha’Allah.

The food we will be giving to the refugees/asylum seekers consists of home cooked lentils and rice, a bottle of water and a fruit (banana). The meals will be cooked by 'Spicebox Kitchen' in Cardiff for free, who we are immensely greatful too for making this initiative possible. May Allah reward you all abundantly, may He place lots of barakah in your business and may this all weigh heavily on your scale of good deeds. Ameen

The logistics and expenses to help cover the cost of the food ingredients (plus hand wipes/cutlery) for 50 people (if we provide the food at least once a month) are approximately £42.64 which means the cost of feeding one person is just 🌟£0.85🌟

Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'as (may Allah be pleased with them) reported: A man asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): "Which act in Islam is the best?" He (ﷺ) replied, "To give food (to the poor and needy) and to greet those whom you know and those who you do not know.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Together, let’s try and achieve this insha’Allah and make a small difference to the refugee community in Cardiff. Please donate (however much you can afford), tell others about this initiative and share the link. All updates will be posted on this page insha’Allah.

‎وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا

‎إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا

✨”And they (righteous people) give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan and the captive, saying “We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you gratitude or reward.” (Al Quran 76:8-9) ✨

May every penny donated weigh heavily on our scale of good deeds, may this initiative be successful in helping those who are in need and may this project become a source of sadaqah jaariyah for us when we are no longer in this world.
