Bear is a hugely affectionate 7 year old American Bulldog x Mastiff. Bear suffers from both elbow dysplasia and arthiritus in both his front legs. Bear has suffered from these conditions since he was 4 years old. Bear finds walking painful and so his devoted 'mum' Kelly has to take him to canine hydrotherapy sessions twice a week to help keep him comfortable. In addition Bear has to have lazer therapy to help manage his pain and inflamation in his joints.

Bear must continue with all these treatments to try to keep him comfortable, however as he begins to get older there is a chance that the hydrotherapy and lazer therapy alone will not be enough to prevent his condition deteriorating. If this happens, Bear will need an elbow replacement. The costs of this surgery would be very high and so Kelly wants to be prepared. As you can imagine the current costs of keeping Bear comfortable and able to enjoy a good quality of life are very expensive; as Bear suffers allergies too so has to have a special diet.

Bear attends dog club weekly, as he loves socialising with dogs and people. He has completed his Bronze Kennel Club test and is currently working toward his Silver! Bear would make an amazing Pets as Therapy Dog due to his placid, gentle and affectionate nature, but at present the focus is on making sure he is comfortable as that is the priority!
