Story
On the 5th August 2018 Carl had a life changing accident which has left him severely paralysed. As a result, Carl needs vital equipment including a bespoke wheelchair as well as adaptations to his home enabling him to live his life as independently as possible. Carl has always been there for his family, friends and work so we want to show our love by raising funds to support him during this time.
Climbing the three peaks in Yorkshire and covering 25 miles is not easy but on Saturday 6th July 2019 starting at 7am Pen-y-gent café BD24 0HE, Team Benni will commence the challenge upwards to Pen-y-gent, Whernside (LA6 3AS) and Ingelborough (LA6 3AR). We are aiming to finish at the Golden Lion Hotel (Horton in Ribblesdale) to celebrate Carls big 50th birthday with a pint or two and a bite to eat.
Of course, we would love you to join us and climb all three, or just one peak or even better meet Carl in the pub for a drink at the end. If you can’t make it at all and want to pledge your support, please give to our just giving page. This would mean such a lot to Carl and Gemma who have had a difficult and challenging time over the last 18 months.
Thank you
Team Benni

4 years agoApologies for no updates it's been rather hectic. Carl is no longer in hospital and for now, he is living in a rented bungalow. He is using the money raised to support him to live as independently as possible including private physiotherapy. Locally there is limited disabled taxi services so we are also looking at a small wheelchair accessible car to get out and about to all his appointments. Carl is using technology now so please contact him by FaceTime or Facebook. Thank you for all your ongoing messages of support ❤️❤️ Much appreciated

5 years agoHi All Carl had his left hand surgery last Tuesday, the 5 hour operation was a success but he is still tired and in pain. With regular therapy Carl's finger movement should improve and as a result have a stronger grip. Costa his consultant lives in Cyprus and is returning soon to check on progress and operate on his right hand. Carl is still hoping to leave the hospital at the end of September but finding somewhere to live is a real challenge. It seems nothing is straight forward. Thank you for all your messages and ongoing donations. ❤️
