Children with mental health problems are not supported enough by our NHS, neither are their families. This often leads to family breakdowns, and sadly children going to extremes to be heard. In our area children (including my own) are being turned away by CAMHS because there is a 2 year wait! As a family we have faced years of begging for help from the GP, CAMHS, doctors in A&E and even children's services, just to be turned away or told to put in place boundries! There are no local free services offering horse therapies, respite or any alternative therapies like meditation, yoga, painting, building etc. I want to make a difference and need to help in anyway I can.
