Hi everyone, we have a beautiful son Castiel who is 5 months old. Over the past few months we noticed his head was getting very flat. We took him to our health visitor who said not to worry about it and it should correct its self... this is not what happened. I started to get worried about his head more and more as it appeared to be getting worse. I got in contact with 'The London Orthotic Consultancy' who specialise in babies heads as I knew it wasnt going to correct its self. We had an appointment a few days ago and he said that not only does Castiel have a mildly severe case of Plagiocephaly (flattening on one side of the head) but he also has a severe case of Brachycephaly (flattening of the back of the head). The only way to correct his head shape is to get a helmet fitted that he will need to wear 23hrs a day for 3 - 6 months!.
The helmets are not funded by the NHS and cost around £2100. Luckily we have amazing family members who have helped us out with the cost of the helmet. However we will need to travel to bristol every 2 weeks until the helmet comes off so it is going to cost alot on petrol alone! This is where we hope you guys will help us out.
