My friend has been attending her college course for six months now and is loving it. She is hard working and has been successful during her studies so far. She has attended every day and is starting a work placement alongside her studies. Before this cpurse she attended many entry level courses in English as a second language (although she speaks at least 5 languages already!) and IT. She also has 3 children in 2 different schools who she cares for with her husband.

She is also an assylum seeker having left her home to find sanctuary here. This has caused many issues when she was applying to start her course but she stuck with it and gained a place so that when her papers finally come through she will be in a better position to find work with some recognised qualifications. One of the biggest obstacles for her was transport as she cannot drive and is not eligible for any help that a British student would automatically receive.

When she started the course I, with many supportive donators, helped to raise the money for her to have a bus card to help her attend her course. Owing to her situation she is not able to claim any student discount and therfore the only bus pass that she can purchase is a full adult one. We were hoping that during the 6 months in which she had her bus card her application for residency would have been accepted and she would be able to apply for a student card for the last 6 months of her course. However the application had been delayed and delayed and my friend’s bus card is about to run out. Without a new one she will struggle to attend her course, her work placement and be able to manage her family committments alonside each other.

Please think about giving something, anything that you can, to help us purchase a new bus card for her for the next six months so that she can finish her course. Thank you.
