Weʼve raised £25 to help fund new outdoor equipment and cooking equipment for the new The Pilgrim School site as they have very limited funds.

    Story

My 13 year old daughter attends The Pilgrim School in Boston, Lincolnshire, a community special school (a hospital school) where children from ages 11 to 16 years attend when they are too poorly to attend mainstream school. This means that the school provides education for pupils who are not in their mainstream school because of a decision made by a medical practitioner. The school offers education and help to reintergrate children back into mainstream school or whatever their next step maybe.

Sadly the school does not get the funding it needs and deserves, many people are not even aware that it exists. Children who use the school, need a lot of extra help and support. Many of the children have very serve illnesses, some have severe Mental Health problems and some have a mixture of illnesses.

The school used to be based within Pilgrim hospital up until about 10 years ago. It has very limited spaces spread across 4 bases within Lincolnshire. Lincoln, Boston, Sleaford and Louth. The buildings were mainly rented spaces until recently, when Lincolnshire County Council and The Pilgrim School decided that it would be better if the Boston and sleaford bases were to merge and have the use of the old Amber Hill School just outside of Boston. A lot of money has gone in to renovating the school so that it is fit for purpose. This has meant that a lot of things that the school would still like to do such as put in a kitchen area so that the children can learn to cook and make the outside area somewhere that the children can go and have some quiet time, have had to be put on hold.

At the moment the school has limited resources and the children learn English, Maths, Science, IT and Art. The teachers would love to be able to offer more options of learning but without funding this will remain limited.

A lot of the children throughout the day just need to have some time out, sometimes they need to sleep, sometimes they just need a break and sometimes the children just need time away from others to destress and calm down. The children now have a big outdoor area that can be used for such times. It would be great if the children were able to use it.

Please, if anyone can make a donation to help that would be amazing. I honestly cannot tell you how happy the children would be to be able to have more opportunities with the school.

My daughter has been poorly for 2 years and has not been well enough to attend school. We were lucky enough to be given a place in January 2017. We would like to help raise money to help further the children’s learning opportunities within the new school building.
