This organisation is close to my heart as it was inspired by the tragic loss of my friend Eilidh’s brother Martyn Cruickshanks he drove of one Monday morning in May 2018 and never returned.

Sadly Martyn took his own life, In Oban there is now a peer to peer group named after Martyn, https://www.martynsmondayclub.co.uk/ Martyn's Monday Club and Martyn's Monday Club Ladies Group. This group offers a safe place for men and ladies over 18 years to talk and meet without being judged and are very active in suicide prevention and awareness as well as mental health well being.

Martyns Monday Club The reason we do what we do….. Martyn was a 37 year old from Oban. He was a son, father and brother, also a good friend to many. Martyn’s great love was cars and 4 x 4s. He worked hard and played hard. Martyn always stood up for the underdog, his biggest dislike was bullying in any shape or form and always helped anyone in difficulty from bullies. Martyn had his own troubles which he did not really speak about, he was too busy helping others, and it was these troubles which were to cost him his life. Martyn left home one Monday morning last May and went for a drive and never came home.Martyn became another suicide statistic. This is the sad story of why we do what we do. If we can get one person to speak to prevent this happening again it will be worth it. It is good to talk so please do.
