Firstly I'd like to say how grateful I am for you clicking on this page and taking the time to read my story!

My name is Charlie Howard and I am 16 years old. My story really starts when I did my first century ride (100 miles) in 2016 at the age of 13. It was possibly the worst but also best days of my life. It was my local club ride from our meeting place to the coast and back again. I felt fine on the way there, messing around at the front with everyone, however on the way back it was a different story. Within 10 miles I was dropped and was with the oldest guy on the ride, my club coach. He even managed to give me a bit of a push up some of the hills, it was the most physically draining thing I have ever done in my life so far but I enjoyed it so much. Everyone who has ever completed a large challenge that was admittedly too big for them knows what I mean.

Fast forward to present day (april 2019) and I am a first year junior going into my first full season of road racing and have been recruited by a team called race hub and I am so far their only junior rider. I am incredibly excited for this opportunity. However, this move to a team which is in its first year of road racing with no budget, requires me to purchase new kit. This is incredibly difficult for me as although my parents earn a sufficient income, it is just that, sufficient.
