Ray Wilks is a fabulous martial artist with over 40 years training behind him. He has an unrivalled knowledge of his arts and an understanding that goes beyond the norm – a knowledge and understanding that he has been so willing to share with others. He’s 65 years old and, until recently was a real firebrand of energy and enthusiasm – enviably fit and fast.

Now cancer has struck him down fast in the form of Neuroendocrine tumours – a very rare cancer that attacks the hormone system and therefore the entire body. He was still training and teaching in February this year – still planning his annual course for July – and now he’s in his final days.

His wife, Sarah, has been doing a fabulous job of caring for him at home – which means that she has been unable to work and I now feel that we can support her and their family in as many ways as possible. This begins with the ATMA’s (small but mighty) Charlotte Cambell doing a 10k swim to raise funds.
