    Story

Hello! I am Stephanie and, together with other volunteers, I run Colourful Margate, a small Community Group in Cliftonville, Margate/UK. We are passionate about improving our local Dane Park to make it an attractive doorstep green space for everyone in the community to enjoy.

Last year, we planted 16 cherry trees and commissioned 6 chainsaw woodcarvings, which are much beloved by young and old. This year, we don't want to stop there. We want to plant more cherry trees, create another large woodcarving and improve the children's playground.

Every Pound helps to achieve our target and improve the green space for all of us. Please join us and donate. Thank you!

Thanks so much for everyone's support to our campaign. The campaign has now closed. We hope to start the first improvements at the children's playground soon. Sending you all good vibes with a lovely cherry blossom picture from Dane Park! 'Prunus Pink Perfection' and 'Prunus Kansan' are in full bloom. Please stay safe and happy!

Have a look! Our Dane Park cherry tree project is part of the new Margate Map. Exciting. Thank you, Kavel Rafferty Illustration, for including us. :)

We are delighted that Dane Park is part of the Heritage Open Days Thanet 2019! Please join us and David Carey of Kent Tree Wardens for a guided walk through the park to learn more about the variety of trees, hear their stories and what makes them special. Walk takes place on Sunday September 15.

We hear about Climate Change, we need to keep our parks. Tree's are important as is nature. A meadow area around the edge of the park where trees and bushes are only need to be cut back twice a year.
