..Oldest friend Chiara, 26, who has been suffering 5 years with CRPS in both lower legs but only recently diagnosed. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a poorly understood condition in which a person experiences persistent severe and debilitating pain. This condition is already spreading through Chiara's legs and can continue to spread through the body. Unfortunately the condition is uncurable. It has developed so bad over the years that no amount of medication helps and there is no escape or ease from the agonising pain. Any touch or movement causes further pain and discomfort for her. Chiara developed this life changing problem from an injury caused in the Army, doing what she loved. But has now been medically discharged due to the condition. Left unpaid, no more help and no financial support.
Chiara amazes me every day with her strength and determination to face this condition and accept what this illness has taken from this once outgoing, active and full of life person. This has not only changed her life but it has also changed her family’s life. 
She struggles and can not carry out basic daily tasks that we would normally take for granted. Due to her high doses of medication and severe pain levels most of the time she can't even move or lead a good quality life.
It is genuinely heart breaking to see our friend in this much pain, discomfort and nothing of a normal life. As a result of this she needs constant help and care.
The number of drugs she is on will eventually mess up her body, but she cannot manage without it.
Minor adaptations have been made to the house for wheelcgair access, however hasn’t been provided with specialised wheelchairs.
She is currently left disabled and unable to work whilst still in constant pain. Due to the condition agressively spreading this is now leading to double amputation.
