Story
This is not a sob story, it is just our life and it is hard! My husband who is nearly 36 has been battling bowel cancer for nearly 5 years now. After gruelling surgery, 3 rounds of chemo and 5 weeks of radiotherapy we have found ourselves in the position that his cancer is now terminal and he is now receiving palliative chemotherapy for the rest of his life. We have always wanted to see the Aurora Borealis and we are fortunate that we live in south west Scotland so have a small chance of seeing it here however i love my husband so very very much and rather than seeing a green haze on the horizon i would love to take him to somewhere amazing like Iceland, hire a small cabin or a glass igloo and see the worlds most amazing natural wonder happen right above us in the sky.
Life isn't easy for us, we deal with the cancer, the appointments, the nurses visits plus the other everyday stuff that everyone needs to go through. Added to this we have an amazing 9yo son with Autism. He is a wonderful, special, caring little boy who goes through so much everyday that he amazes me how well he is coping knowing that his dad is going to die. We all know routine is very important to autistic kids so the fact he can stay with my parents (who save my life everyday with their support) every time we need to travel the 2 to 4 hours it takes to get to the hospital on B roads with an over night stay. He continues to go to school, spend time with family and even be a Cub Scout. Because of where we live we are several hours drive each way for my husband to get his treatment. This is also added pressure and worry.
All in all i would just like to do this for my husband, he deserves to have a once in a life time experience, he doesn't believe in bucket lists, he loves the quiet life we have. Please help me make his dream come true.
