    Story

Here is a picture of my two dogs Flash and Pumkin, I have had Pumkin for two years since he was a puppy, our other dog Dotty died last year and Pumkin was not eating. I wanted to get him a pal but as an OAP I couldn't afford a high priced puppy so went to a kennels where stray dogs are placed by the police and dog wardens. We had a dog from their twelve years ago so I thought that it would be nice to give a home to another stray/dumped dog. We found Flash who is about two, the same age as Pumkin. and when we viewed him I asked if he was neutered and the lady felt him and said no he was not, but would have to be done. I agreed to have the job done as Pumkin has also been neutered. He came home and I booked the vet and also insured him against future problems. At the vets I was informed that he had only one testicle the other was retained within his body. I had saved up the £150 fee but as the op. would be bigger it would cost £500 as she needed to open him up. I can not afford that and the op. is not covered by the insurance. What I am most upset about is the fact that the kennels did not do a vet check and that I was not informed about the problem, yet it is a requirement that these dogs are neutered. Flash keeps running off when he gets the scent of a female, and as I live in the countryside and don't drive now it's very hard to find him, and I am worried in case he causes an RTA or get run over, he also takes Pumpkin with him so I'm worried about him too. The kennels have said that they will take him back but that will only cause problems for another person unless they put him to sleep! I don't want to return him as he is putting on weight and is no longer afraid of everything (except female dogs) he is happy here and well loved by Pumkin and it would hurt us all to lose him. I still have £150 towards the cost of the op. but need a further £350 and if anyone can help we would all be very grateful, a retained testicle can become cancerous later so they do need to come off. Thank you for looking.
