I am raising funds for Cikoko, a UK based charity, which supports the education of over 100 students living in the Kafue National Park in Zambia. The charity funds teacher salaries, school expansion, teacher training, community initiatives, and is hoping to help fund the student’s tertiary education.

My first target is to raise £500 for the charity. If I succeed in this I will dye my hair pink, yes PINK!! (Think bright fuschia pink rather than Kardashian bubblegum-pastel pink)

During the recent rainy season, two of the temporary classrooms were destroyed in a storm and the roof of the permanent building was broken. The students have now been forced to study in two small classrooms or outside. All donations from this project will go towards building two additional classrooms for the students. Any extra funds will go towards building a kitchen to help provide full and sanitary meals for the students, as well as enabling some of the students to attend their preferred tertiary education.

Having lived with this community for a year, I know that all of the children are eager to learn and are passionate about their education. The education provides a means for teaching the community about anti-poaching initiatives and helping save their environment. It also provides the children with opportunities, which are unfortunately not available to many children in Zambia.
