This year our team will be running the Hastings Half Marathon to support the family of one of our longest members and a very popular figure, Monique, as her nephew Denny has just had a bone marrow transplant following Leukaemia remission.

Denny’s sister Marley also has Leukaemia and they are both fighting a big fight.

If this wasn’t tough enough, the children were also split from their siblings and their grandparents are now their legal guardians. Their Nan and Grandad also have their own 2 children, so 6 people in total, live in a three bedroom house.

Denny has been in isolation for 2 months but has been in and out of hospital for more than half his life.

We are looking to raise some money for a nice day out or weekend away for the family.

Denny was first diagnosed three years ago, aged 3, and in January 2018, Marley Mae who was nearly 2 years old at the time was also diagnosed with leukaemia. 2 weeks after Marley’s diagnosis, Denny got his routine bone marrow test back and his cancer was back too. They both went through intense chemo together, both suffering infections and complications and spent many months in hospital, sometimes together and sometimes in separate hospitals. Marley lost use of her body and was near enough paralysed through the chemo. She had to learn how to walk, talk, lift her head and move again. They both made it through the intense chemo routine, and Marley is now on a 2 year maintenance programme and officially in remission, the chemo wasn’t working for Denny so he had a bone marrow transplant.
