    Story

UPDATED - walk will now take place on Sunday 17th February 2019

Plains Farm Blues have been in existence for two years now and have competed in the Russell Foster Youth League in Sunderland from U6s, through U7s and now in the U8s leagues.

We are self funded in that we collect weekly subscriptions that help pay for our club and league registration, training pitch fees and any equipment and clothing that isn't covered by our very kind sponsors. Money is tight and we scrimp and save for every penny. It isn't cheap to run a youth football team, and the coaches and secretary all give up a lot of their own time to make sure that the boys get the best footballing experience possible. Without them and the support of their parents, we wouldn't be able to continue.

During their footballing journey, we have seen a few boys come and go, but yet we have a core of 3 boys who have been with us since the very first day and it has been great to see them develop, with some great additions. We have competed in many tournaments in the North East, but it has always been a dream to take the boys away to compete in a tournament somewhere else in the country.

We have booked ourselves into the Filey Youth Football Cup in April of this year, and the boys are ridiculously excited. We can't wait to see them spend a few days together and continue their bonding as a team that has got stronger and stronger over the last few years.

We are looking to raise some money to help the team pay for this 3 day tournament, and are holding a Race Night to raise some funds, which will be held in March (more details can be found on the Plains Farm Blues U8s Facebook page), but we wanted the boys to do something themselves to raise money.

That is why they are embarking on a Sponsored Walk up Roseberry Topping on February 3rd 2019. Now, you may say that isn't too much of a challenge for fit and healthy young boys but unless there is a football involved, some of them won't entertain the idea of going on a walk :) https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/roseberry-topping?fbclid=IwAR1NKRxU_441LMs5OoS_Etw0Wp8RmPrPIkNyDFIW4Up6KovYb9bDqlD1c0o

This will be a decent challenge for the team (and some of the parents too) and with the weather forecast possibly suggesting that "Winter is Coming" it could be a good walk for them in demanding weather conditions.

If you willing to donate a few pounds of your well-earned cash to sponsor them, the boys would be hugely grateful and it would ensure that they have the best possible experience in their first away tournament.
