On May 2nd 2019, we sadly lost our beloved Chris Barber. It was a sudden and unexpected loss, of a wonderfully caring human being. He was the life and soul of any gathering. Did anything to put a smile on someone’s face and always put others happiness before his own. He touched so many peoples’ lives with his generosity and witty charm.

Chris was never very materialistic. He liked to keep things simple and to the point. Everyone who knew him, knew of his passion for helping and caring for animals. Any animals, big or small - even insects! He had a dry and sarcastic sense of humour but when it came down to the animals, he was completely devoted. He would stop any dog or cat he would see in the street for cuddles even if it meant he was going to be late to somewhere. He joined his sister, Jade, daily on her dog walking job just to spend as much time as possible with dogs and he was instantly a hit.

He always had family dogs and was left absolutely heartbroken when his most recent dog, Bentley (little fat man) sadly lost his life two days after Christmas 2018. A hole that would never be filled. He seeked comfort in Tilly, Bentley’s adopted sister who we had recently rescued.

Which brings me to this. In Chris’ memory, instead of funeral flowers (he was never into flowers or even a fuss being made), we would like to raise some funds for an animal charity. It’s exactly what he’d have wanted and would have been so proud that he could do this last amazing tribute to what he loved most.
