    Story

My sister Yvonne was injured when she was 22 years old and has endeavoured to lead an independent life which she has done. She is now 59 years old and in 2010 had a major set back to being independent by getting a pressure sore. After 7 years of practically being bed bound she is nearly back to her independence thanks to the care of family nursing and a recent 5 month stay at the Royal National orphopedic hospital in London. She is a most inspirational lady and remains full of life and spirit. My challenge is to do a charity swimming challenge to raise money for specialist spinal injury equipment. I aim to do this by travelling to the UK and swimming 50 x 50 metres in 50 different 50 metre pools over a period of 50 weeks. This began on Tuesday 27th November 2018 which is the same week Yvonne will travel back home to Jersey. We don't have a 50 metre pool in Jersey so this will be a personal challenge to me but hopefully it will reflect on Yvonnes patience and determination to be that independent lady again.

Hi everyone - I have completed all my swims which I did in the 50 weeks. All 50 x 50 lengths totals 78 miles of swimming and I travelled over 850 Mike's to complete in 12 trips to the UK. Thank you to all the kind people who have donated. I am keeping g my page open as I will hope to raise more for a worthy cause which is often overlooked. Victims of life changing spinal injuries to be able to live in their own homes xx

Hi An update for everyone. I am off to swim in Cardiff, Swansea, Bath, Bristol and Millfield on Thursday 4th April. This will add 5 more pools which will be 15 pools overall. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Once I have completed all 50 pools it will equate to 78miles of swimming or equivalent to 3 marathons. I am up to a quarter of my target fundraising also with other donations. Thank you again Christina
