Story
Help to pay our Dear Mum Agnes Waganda Otieno’s medical bills
Yesterday we started writing the fundraising campaign under the headline, “HELP SAVE OUR MUM” in the hope she would be coming home. But at midnight the hospital called to say she had passed away. We are all devastated. Mum was always as strong as an ox - rarely ill herself but a constant care giver way beyond her own family. After months of hospital visits and tests, last week the doctors dropped the bombshell no one ever wants to hear. Dear Mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which had spread to her stomach lining. But before we had a chance to process this dreadful news she got a very serious liver infection for which she was being treated at the High Dependency Unit in Nairobi Hospital. Over the last few days she was only able to utter a few words when we lifted her oxygen mask. We can’t cope with the astronomical medical bills. We need help. We’ve set up this fundraising campaign and any help will be greatly appreciated as well as your thoughts and prayers during this trying time. With great affection, Agnes Waganda Otieno’s family.

6 years agoIt has been a hard couple of days. I have finally found strength to give an update. On Saturday we laid Mum to rest. No more pain. It was a lovely send off from friends and family. Today the flowers maybe wilting but our memories remain fresh. Once again thank you all for your kind words, your prayers and your much appreciated donations.

6 years agoWe have made great strides in achieving our goal on Mums hospital expenses. We are bringing this target down to reflect other fundraising efforts on the ground in Kenya. We are at the final hurdle. We, the Waganda family, are truly grateful for all your continued support, your kind donations, your words of encouragement, your thoughts and prayers. You have all been awesome. As we look through Mums papers we keep finding these little gems. Kenya Airways staff ID photo from way back.
