Amy Camp Peru Trek

Amy along with Peter and I will be running the Great Manchester 10K in May to raise money for a Volunteer programme with Camps International the brilliant global social enterprise who offer opportunities for young people to travel as volunteers working within less developed communities.

Amy will be travelling out for a month long trip to Peru in July 2020 as part of a community based project working together with local adults and children to help improve their lives sustainably.

Amy is very keen to take part in what we have no doubt will be an extremely challenging and life changing experience for her. Having the opportunity to travel and experience a dramatically different way of life and culture much less privileged than the normal day to day that we often take for granted.

Whilst we are sure it will be immensely challenging both emotionally and physically for Amy to take part in the Camp Peru project we believe it will be significant small chapter in Amy’s life that will help develop her as a whole person and positively shape her character.

We are enormously proud Amy has signed up to take part and committed to raising the considerable amount of money to enable her to take the trip.

Running the 10K together is just one of several fundraising missions Amy has planned in order to raise the £4,450.00 required. We have offered our help as parents to support what we believe is a very important life opportunity for her.

So Amy who in her own words “hates running!” On May 19th is going to try her best to complete the 10k run along with Peter and I.

We also have our personal goals Peter and I who are jointly in our 50th years, Peter’s goal to be the fastest 50 year old ever! and mine to beat him!!! (for those of you who know us best I am sure you will appreciate the humour!)

For Amy the personal challenge of completing the race by whatever means will be admirable not least as she has committed to the event during the very busy and stressful GCSE Exam period!
