    Story

I have been suffering with an originally undiagnosed CSF leak and constant head pain for 8.5 years now and think I have finally found a doctor to help me. I am trying to raise funds to have surgery on the veins in my head to release any pressure that is there that could be causing the CSF pressure to rise. This in turn creates more problems as I then go into low pressure as cysts fill or burst with the fluid. I then get very weak, unable to communicate and can often end up having a non-epileptic seizure. I would love to work full time and feel that this doctor could either partially or fully help me.

If you would like to contribute, my family and I would be so grateful - it could mean a 'normal 'life could resume - which, after all this time, would be like a dream come true. My friends are running in a 5k fun run in September and if you would like to sponsor them, that would help so much. If I can secure some funding, I can arrange the surgery much sooner than otherwise - as the NHS waiting lists are extraordinarily long.

    Sweet dreams,

    C x

Thank you so much. C x

I visited the surgeon on Friday and he is very pleased with my progress so far. The surgery was a success and the left jugular vein is now unkinked! I can now look up, eat more chocolate :) and am gradually increasing the distance I can walk. Thank you everyone for your support. I really couldn't have done it without you as it cost a lot more in the end (£10,400)! We are now switching to the NHS for further treatment (possibly surgery on the right side too) and so are closing the page. Looking positive! C x

Hi everybody! Well, I had the first operation on Thursday and so far, so good! It is still painful and hard to move my head too much, and the painkillers are helping. My surgeon was able to remove all the bone from the side of the jugular and has resected the C1 vertebrae to allow the vein to have more room to drain. I have to take it easy for a couple of weeks before returning back to work after the follow up in Cambridge. Thank you everyone for your continued support and interest. We're keeping everything crossed that this works. C:)

I had a delayed diagnosis of a csf leak after collapsing in 2009 and being successfully treated with targetted blood patching in 2014. Friends and family raised funds for me to travel to USA for further diagnosis and treatment. I am now looking for funds for head surgery.
