My mother Evelyn 55 years is suffering from Dilated Cardiomyopathy/ LLB with QRS Rythum in ECG . Severe LV Dysfunction (EF 25% ). She is advised to go for Cardiac Re-synchronisation Therapy Pacing CRT-P at the earliest. Unfortunately, she cannot have this procedure done in Zimbabwe because they said they can't do it. Meenekshi Missionary hospital and Research Centre in India can do this procedure and they are charging us 8,00.000 Rupees eight lakhs which is equivalent to £9 600 pounds. This is a lot of money for me to save my mother’s life. I am a single mother with a 6year old daughter and a full-time student doing Nursing in Edinburgh. As much as l want to save this money and pay her bills l can't because of my financial circumstance. Her life is on critical condition because her heart is functioning at 25%. I'm feeling hopeless because l can't help my mother. She is very young to just give up, with a situation that can be treated by healthcare professionals. She has a potential to live longer if this can be treated immediately. It's sad that my profession is to promote health and well-being and saving lives, but l cannot save my own mother's due to my financial circumstances. This situation is really disturbing my studies, and it is my wish one day to see my mother healthy and celebrating my success with me. We are two girls in my family, my sister is at secondary school. My mum's condition has changed her lifestyle. She now depends on my sister who help her with Activities of daily living. She cannot manage to do a lot of things for herself anymore, which is causing her health to deteriorate more.
