I have been trying to help a lady I am friends with in Gaza as she has dedicated her life to helping the animals who live in this area. Since I started to help a few months ago she has been in daily contact with me and sends me lots of photos and videos of the animals in her care. It has been at times very distressing as several have died. Just last week 5 cats sadly didn't make it. She is doing all she can and I have been in contact with the only animal rescue centre over there, who have been out to see her, but are unfortunately full themselves and are struggling to do more. We managed to raise £260, which was sent over to help with vet bills, food and the rent for the house where the animals are housed. It is extremely important they are not left on the street, especially as the temperatures there have now considerably dropped.

These are just some of the animals my friend in Gaza is currently trying to help. She has 35 cats/ kittens and several dogs/puppies. There are literally thousands of homeless animals really suffering over there in horrendous circumstances. They can suffer from abuse on the street, be poisoned or shot and therefore I really wanted to do something to help!

The current situation is Palestine means its unsafe and people are living in very difficult circumstances. A great deal of animals are really mistreated and some of the things I’ve read since getting involved with this will shock me forever! My friend over there really is trying to help these animals. Shes renting a separate house for her animals, to keep them away from any cruelty they are likely to receive on the street. She is in contact with Sulala for animals, who are the only official animal rescue in Gaza and whom do lots of great work! They have been amazing and have helped us with food for the animals and some medication, but sadly they are currently looking for somewhere themselves to house all the animals they have and therefore they cant take them at present, They have however put us in contact with vets in the area who will offer a discount.

The rent for the house these animals currently live in (they all can’t live in my friends property as there is just so many of them!) Is $100 a month, shes already behind by 2 months and the landlord is threatening to kick them out. The rescue tried to talk to him, but no extension was made. My friend also can not afford to pay for all the vet fees herself and some of the animals have bad infections, that can lead to awful conditions! There are already several disabled cats including 3 who are blind.

Any money raised for these animals will go towards their housing and for veterinary care.
