Story
After talking about it for a long time, a group of us signed up for The Edinburgh Moonwalk in June 2018 to celebrate our friend Linda surviving breast cancer twice & my 40th birthday.
I didn’t expect to be given the same diagnosis at just 39, fit and healthy, but I have. I have proudly worked for the NHS for over 20 years but have never been so proud the last few weeks at the care, expertise, treatment and compassion I have been shown. Equally, I have never felt so lucky to have such fantastic friends, family and colleagues who have been incredibly supportive and positive with me every step of the way.
So, please no sympathies, but if you can spare a few coins I’m determined to do a few different events over the next few months (some already planned, some not) and will have baking, dog treats and other fundraising events and would love your support.
Finally, boys and girls - get checking your bits. Love Clayre xx

6 years agoThank you again to everyone who donated and supported me throughout my diagnosis, treatment and fundraising efforts. This morning I had my last radiotherapy treatment and was delighted to be able to donate to The Friends of The Cancer Centre. I really benefited from the support available from The Macmillan Centre and the staff and services which are funded by The FCC. Surgery: ✅ 18 weeks Chemotherapy: ✅ 3 weeks Radiotherapy: ✅ Medication: 10 years Support from others: Priceless ❤️

6 years agoThank you again to everyone who supported me and donated to this page. I had my final Chemo treatment this morning & although The MacDermott Unit was not on my original post, it would have been remiss not to include them after the amazing care I received. The staff consistently went over and above their duties & made a horrible experience more positive with laughter, positivity and genuine care. This money will solely go to patient comfort funds and will help purchase comfortable seating, drink machines etc. Thank you again ❤️

6 years agoThank you again to everyone who has supported me and who donated to my fundraising for cancer charities. This morning I had my last chemotherapy treatment. Although The Macdermott Unit wasn’t included in my original designated charities, they have been so fantastic it would have been remiss not to have tried to give something back. They are hoping to move to a new building next year and any monetary donations they receive will be used solely for patient comforts ie: comfortable loungers, coffee machines etc to improve the experience for others
