    Story

    I had a motorcycle accident in 2009.
my friend and I went out for a ride and the car in front stopped suddenly so I pulled up I & looked in my mirror & saw my best friend looking to his left so new what was going to happen & hit me dead centre so his front wheel hit mine. I went in the air but my feet got caught in the faring & then I went forward and hit the car in front & hit the fuel tank with my bum then the bike fell. My head missed the high curb by about an inch. I've had many scans and x-rays etc & was told the lower part of my spine has been crushed & I now have osteoarthritis.
I still have trouble coming to terms with what happened & I still get embarrassed sometimes using a scooter or sometimes crutches but it's a case of having to get used to it. I hate asking for help even from friends, I just try to be as independent as I possibly can but sometimes it doesn't work. It took me about a year to save a little bit of money & managed to buy a second-hand scooter for £225. It was not too bad, not very comfortable but it got me about a little bit. After a while it started breaking down so I started getting worried how long it's going to last & if I'm going to get home ok so I hate going out on my own. I went out with some friends to the seaside & I managed to hire a scooter from Littlehampton Shopmobility & this scooter was absolutely lovely it had a nice big seat on it and was quite comfortable although nothing will get rid of the pain it was as comfortable as can be. I have looked about on the internet for scooters and sometimes I dream about that scooter & how I could get out a lot more instead of sitting indoors. It doesn't help my anxiety & depression but feel safe at home. Most of the scooters I found cost £3000 upwards. It started to make my mood drop.I rang Littlehampton Shopmobility who told me the make & model of Bob the one I rented. I search the internet for it & found that it was £1,595 which is very scary because I haven't got that sort of money. I hardly ever go out because I don't trust the scooter. I would love to go out on my own & meet up with my friends for a coffee in town or something like that. I could even do some food shopping instead of ordering online all the time.
I'm sorry I don't like asking but I saw this on TV tonight about crowdfunding & thought I'd give it a try.
    Thank you for listening.
