Story
Welcome to the donation page for fundraising events run by our brilliantly imaginative and hardworking student fundraising team!
The Cole Museum of Zoology has been an invaluable educational resource, for students and the public alike, at the University of Reading since it was established in the early 20th century.
With over 4000 specimens, the Cole Collection is at the heart of a rare and nationally important UK museum that teaches all visitors about comparative anatomy; the study of differences between animals. The Cole has been a well-loved local attraction and spiritual home for the University's zoology students for decades, and is now facing arguably the greatest challenge in its history.
The Cole Museum of Zoology will be the centrepiece of a new Health and Life Sciences Building at the University of Reading, opening in 2019.
Designing a brand new museum space and organising the 'mass migration' of thousands of specimens, ranging from Nigel the enormous and charismatic elephant skeleton to the tiniest of insects, is a costly and complex operation - and we need your help to make it happen!
Your kind donation will go directly to the conservation, careful packing and transporting of our animal specimens, the creation of brand new interpretations and display cases and the installation of the museum's collections in new homes when the Health and Life Sciences Building is complete.
In order to create a fantastic new teaching resource for animal enthusiasts and students of all ages for many more decades to come, we urgently need your donation. Specialist conservation expertise, museum-standard packing materials and innovative displays that bring our animals to life are very expensive but crucial to the success of a brand new Cole Museum of Zoology.
Please give as generously as you can. On behalf our animals, we thank you - let no fossil, pangolin or velvet worm be left behind!
