My partner has struggled terribly with his health for a few years now. Hes a 34 year old type 1 diabetic, who has end stage renal failure. He's struggled with diabetic complications for a long time which consist of retinopathy causing him to lose his peripheral vision, charcots foot, neuropathy and diabetic myonecrosis, he also started to have very poor circulation in his feet.

In November 2018, he had an emergency Angioplasy and toe amputation after his little toe died, however, the angioplasty didnt help and Ben's big toe on the same foot also died. They were planning on amputating his big toe until it became infected and caused cellulitis.

We decided as a couple that the best option was for Ben to have a below knee amputation to reduce the risk of sepsis and potentially save his life.

He underwent the amputation on 29th March and has been so strong and motivated to get closer to his goal of walking on his prosthetic leg.

It hasn't been easy for Ben since coming home from the hospital, we are really lucky that we secured a bungalow when Bens health deteriorated back in 2017 but we are finding it difficult to keep Ben comfy during the day due to our second hand sofa's which have seen a lot of bums in their time and they are very low in height and Ben is struggling to transfer from his computer chair safely which he is using the manoeuvre around our bungalow.

Our goal is to get Ben a recliner armchair, so he can elivate his residual limb and be as comfy as possible as well as a bigger sofa so he can sit with me and our dog Max, alongside money towards a mobility scooter so Ben can enjoy his long awaited holiday in June.

With Ben unable to work and me working full time with Chronic illness Lupus and fibromyalgia, we struggle to deal with daily costs let alone saving up to get new furniture or a mobility scooter, so i thought I would see what we could do in terms of crowd fundraising to help us.
