This was Cooper the Beagle cross, in February 2018 he had rapid onset cataracts in both eyes and became blind. He went down hill rapidly and was really confused loosing all motivation for walks which he loved, he spent most of the time on his bed as he kept walking into everything. He was only five at the time, we took him too a specialist vet and the operation with pre-operation and post operation treatment was going to cost £7000.00. Our insurance only cover £1000.00 which had already been consumed by his diabetes treatment earlier in October 2017. We took the decision to have the operation as we was not going to give him away or have him put down, you may ask why not just leave him blind? If you saw the sorry state he was in and knew him before the cataracts you would understand as he needed his quality of life back. So the day came all went well and he now has his vision back with the quality of life he deserves.

We paid the bill with a credit card and used savings to fund the operation, we have transferred the balance to an interest free credit card and are paying this off at £150,00 per month, it sure makes a dent especially as we have a further outlay of £50.00 per moth for his insulin. We have £4000.00 left to pay off the credit card and are looking for anyone with a heart to help reduce the amount. We are a normal working family who have been caught out by this unfortunate occurrence, why didn't we have a higher insurance cover, well if we had hindsight we would have, but that's life.
