Dani Watts is an inspiration to all of us. Nine months ago, while playing rugby for Redingensians, she suffered a life changing injury leaving her wheel chair bound.

After surgery and months of rehabilitation at Stoke Mandeville Hospital Dani is back home with Pete and her two young children. Astonishingly Dani is already talking about “making a difference”. She wants to retrain and help other people tackle the type of life changing injuries she is learning to adapt to both physically and mentally.

So, when four young men from Redingensians RFC (Tom Vooght, Matt Weller, Olly and Steve Poole) decided to compete in the Copenhagen Ironman it wasn’t difficult to find a worthy cause to get behind.

Dani’s house requires certain adaptations to make life that bit easier. A properly fitted out wet room will make every day living more manageable and some raised planter beds in the garden will help her enjoy her new hobby with the children.

A 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, 26.2-mile run is a long way but nothing like the journey Dani is embarking on. She has already inspired people to run Half Marathons and Marathons, now an Ironman …. what next….
