Hello, and welcome to my fundraising page!
This October I will be taking part in the Birmingham half marathon, fundraising for the Neonatal unit at Birmingham City hospital where I work as a neonatal sister, caring for premature and sick babies and supporting their families.
I have chosen to fundraise for this charity to not only raise funds to provide supportive and developmental care on the unit, but in tribute to my amazing daughter Thaila, who was born at 27 weeks at City hospital in 2008, and is my biggest inspiration for this race.
Every day that I I spent with Thaila on the neonatal ICU, I witnessed the hard work and commitment that the medical and nursing team carried out 24 hours a day to save her life, and help me get through the most difficult time of my life. Every day was a rollercoaster of emotions as I watched my tiny baby fight to survive and endure countless blood tests and procedures. I was scared to look to the future with my baby girl and had to take every day as it came for six long months. The day I took her home was the greatest feeling in the world, at last realising my tiny baby girl was not so tiny anymore, and she was strong and well and ready to see the world for the first time. Most importantly I could take her home and be her mum.
Now Thaila isn’t so tiny anymore, in fact she is taller than me! She is bright and happy, kind and caring and the best big sister to her baby sister Kaiya, she’s everything a mum wants her child to be and I couldn’t be prouder.

I am fundraising to buy equipment to assist in the developmental care of the babies, and provide support to parents, so that they can spend every precious moment with their baby.
