Please help me in raising money for Roberto & his family so they can have a much needed & deserved holiday following the terrible 18 months they have endured;
I have known the Brown family for many years working with Roberto’s uncles Lee & Carl on the Railway. Roberto’s mother Amanda also went through pregnancy at the same time as my wife Lynsey so they grew close during this period.
One day before 4 year old Roberto was due to start school at Church Lane reception with my son Lucas, he was given the devastating news & was diagnosed with Wilms tumour.
Wilms’ tumour is a type of tumour that develops from the immature cells from which the kidneys develop. Roberto had to start immediate chemotherapy treatment at Manchester Children’s hospital for 6 months. Amanda had no choice but to quit her job to be there for her son.
Roberto had finished his treatment from his protocol and 5 weeks later had after treatment scans only to be told that the cancer had returned to his kidney & and was now in his diaphragm. This would need further intense chemotherapy treatment, radiotherapy & surgery to remove the tumours both measuring around 4cms in diameter.
Whilst Roberto was battling for his life things got even worse for the family when Roberto’s grandad Bob passed away due to surgery complications fighting his own cancer on 9th November 2018. Bob was one of the nicest & well respected men you could ever meet and the news was shattering for all.
Brave Roberto finished his gruelling treatment and was again given the all clear on 20th December just in time for Christmas.
Roberto continues his recovery and has recently made his first few appearances at school & met his classmates. We are all praying that his recovery continues & that his family can finally have some happy times ahead.
