Story
The Scholar group of Creative Stage love to perform! In fact, they spend most of their week training in the studios at Creative Stage. They are so enthusiastic and very committed, for many of them, Creative Stage has changed their lives! The majority of them have now decided that after their years of training with Creative Stage, they wish to further their training and study professionally as performers.
The Scottish Borders is a small place compared to London (the home of the performing arts in the UK) and we really do try and give the children all the opportunities we can to help support their training and enhance their experiences. Last year, the children of CS including the scholar group, worked so hard and dedicated a lot of time and effort into putting on the production of 'A Chorus Line', performing to audiences in Galashiels for two nights. We would have loved to have performed for a longer period of time but the cost of putting on such a production was just too expensive for us, in fact, we ended up losing money in doing so!
The scholar children have been so eager to continue with the production and often ask us, "can we take it on tour"? Although we can't offer this, we would love to offer them the chance to perform at one of the biggest performing arts festivals in the world, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019. This comes with a huge cost but also a hugely rewarding experience for the children of the Scottish Borders. The scholars are already fund-raising in between their Creative Stage classes and school work, to help raise the funds towards this but if you would like to help in anyway that you can, big or small, we would be so grateful. You would be helping to create a wonderful and memorable opportunity for local children.
We hope in creating such opportunities for the teenage group, it will continue to inspire and encourage the younger generation so we can create the same opportunities for them also...
Thank you
The Creative Stage Scholars
Catriona loved the whole process of the show from auditions to rehearsals to the performance itself. It goes without saying that Catriona lives and breathes Creative Stage! You are now woven into her DNA and we wouldn’t have it any other way!!Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to see our daughter in what appears to be her home environment! We take such joy from watching her perform.
