I'm 78 years old, living in Hungary. Over the last 30 years I've helped many cats and dogs who were ignored and abandoned by their owners. I live next to the forest, and the locals sometimes leave their unwanted animals there, tied to a tree or putting kittens in a plastic bag. Right now I look after 26 cats and 4 dogs. (And I'm feeding one fox, so he wouldn't go down to the village. The locals killed the mother.) I take very good care of them and they're all spayed, neutered. Unfortunately I don't have any help (physical or financial) apart from my daughter who lives in England and sends all her savings home to help me with the bills. My small house is on the top of a hill, and because we don't have home delivery or taxi services in the area, I have to climb this hill at least three times a week. (The nearest place I can do the food shopping for them is about 10 miles from our village and the public transport is terrible). I don't know how long I can do this. I'm getting very weak, and I know that the locals' attitude towards animals won't change. My daughter can not move back because there are no jobs here, so we had to come up with a solution. We found a very safe area in Italy (Domodossola), very close to the Swiss border ( 30 min with train), with excellent public transport. (My daughter could find a job in that area). We found stone houses away from the road with electricity and water, next to the forest. (The last pictures are from Italy). Renovation projects but the're habitable and most importantly perfect for the animals. We know it's a lot ask, but we would really appreciate any help.
