    Story

iStudents and staff from the Romsey School have been supporting community project volunteering work in Nakuru, Kenya for nearly a decade. You can read about the adventures the students and staff have had on the Romsey 2 Kenya Facebook Page #Romsey2Kenya, however it has been a life changing project for all involved and really helps the young people we take see what a difference their hard work can make to others that are not as fortunate as them, purely because of where they have been born. Our students get to experience Kenyan culture first hand and are able to take part in local Kenyan traditions that allow them to see how those with few material possessions really enjoy their lives and have fun with each other, despite their hardship and poverty.

Over time the school community has benefited from the friendships it has created as a consequence to these Kenyan adventures. As a school community we are keen to continue this support and I am planning on volunteering with the project for the 2020 Romsey 2 Kenya Project.

In order to help fundraise for my place on the trip, I am going to be taking part in 3 events over the coming 5 weeks. The first of these is the Solent Half Marathon, which is on Sunday 23rd September. The next event will see me run half of the Clarendon Way on Sunday 7th October. I'll be finishing with the Great South Run in Southsea on 21st October.

Please can I ask that, if you do nothing else, you log onto https://www.facebook.com/Romsey2Kenya/ and like the Facebook page to help us continue raising awareness for this fantastic project and the opportunity to help chang so many lives, both lives in Nakuru, Kenya and lives in Romsey, UK.
