Weʼve raised £2,410 to give children in Uganda and Borneo better care, and the support they deserve

    Story

We live in a world where adults are breaking things down, often because of greed, power and other selfish reasons. Our children are paying the price for what we leave behind. This means our own future is at stake. So let's care for our children better, and we care for our future.

This year I will turn 45, and I am grateful for the blessed upbringing I have had. I never really had to suffer. So that's exactly what I am going to do for these two great causes.

On 21-22-23 June I am going to cycle 450 miles (725 km) in three days to celebrate my 45th birthday and to raise £4,500 for these two amazing charities. On Friday 21st June I'm warming up by cycling 40 miles to Sheerness, then on Saturday I take part in Chase the Sun, cycling from Sheerness to Somerset (205 miles), and on Sunday 23rd I will cycle back home to Chelmsford (205 miles).

And yes, I'm Dutch, so I know how to cycle. Just not sure what the suffering is when doing 450 miles in three days. But surely, my pain will be temporarily, while children all over the world have to suffer much more and much longer.

The money I raise is for Living Waters Village (https://www.livingwatersvillage.com) in Borneo, and for Pamoja Youth Health Initiative (http://bit.ly/PamojaPYHI) in Uganda.

    Your donation is much appreciated.

The ride is done! 452 miles South, West and back East. The main idea was to face mental and physical inconvenience for a couple of days. Why? To raise money for two charities that are helping children and young people in Borneo and Uganda, who are facing extreme challenging circumstances most of their lives. Including other (off line) donations the counter is now at £2,980. Thank you so much for those that have given! This means that we are getting closer to the goal of £4,500. Who is helping me over the line?

Thank you all so much for all the donations so far. It means a lot to me, and I know it will to all those that will be affected by it in some shape or form. I have also received some off line donations, which added to all the donations here brings the total to nearly £2100 which is close to 50% raised! As I am writing this, I'm one day away of getting onto my bike for three days. But the bike is ready, my legs are ready and my mind is ready. Thanks again for all your prayers, wishes, thoughts and donations!
