Story
My name is SHIRLEY KELLY and I have 2 kids namely DALE and AMERYN who suffer from SICKLE CELL ANEMIA.
DALE was diagnosed in 2007 when he suffered from a stroke on his right side. He has since suffered brain damage due to the stroke and is very slow at learning.
We have taken him for physiotherapy but stopped because we could no longer afford it. DALE is now 14 years old but he is not going to School. We have tried taking him to ordinary Schools but he cannot keep up with the other children. I have since been trying to teach at home because we cannot afford to enroll him in a Special needs School.
AMERYN was diagnosed at the age of 6 months. We managed to detect it early since we had experience from DALE. She has been in and out of hospital since and has needed multiple blood transfusions.
AMERYN & DALE both take HYDROXYREA, ORAPEN and FOLIC ACID daily. We sometimes have difficulty getting this medication because of money issues.
I would sincerely appreciate any help that can be given to us especially with medication.
Thanking you in advance.
Shirley..."
