Help Nelson with his battle against heart disease and multiple-organ failureSince the beginning of this year 2019, Nelson’s family was in total shock and frustration when he was sent to one of the hospitals in the Philippines for emergency.Nelson is 57-years-old and he was in a 50-50 condition (between life and death) during this period. Due to the fact that the family of Nelson thought that his heart disease had worsen, he was sent to see a different specialist to a different hospital – only to find out that he also have a liver problem and possibly a kidney problem as well – and it was all failing at that time when they thought he was going to die as he almost had no pulse.Before this big revelation for the family had come to their knowledge, a few hospitals refused to give Nelson medical treatments and attention that he needs because the family cannot afford to pay for it and any hospitals will not accept any patients without a big amount of money to deposit – this is what life is like in the Philippines when you are terribly ill.Nelson, along with his wife and a daughter, live at a farm in a remote area of the Philippines where there is hardly any source of income – just enough to feed his whole family on a day-to-day basis. Considering that Philippines is a third world country, opportunities is very seldom to come by at remote places like this. Hence, his family is struggling so hard to pay for his medications and hospital bills.Multiple organ failure is a life threatening condition which requires a patient to be treated within the ICU setting. When one body system such as the heart experiences failure, it has multiple effects upon the other organs. The kidneys are very much affected by the heart and will very quickly experience failure if thorough medical care is not administered. In the end stage, liver failure can trigger multi-organ failure as well. The bottom line is, the ICU/ITU (Intensive Care Unit/Intensive Treatment or Therapy Unit) has the equipment and trained medical staff needed to care for multiple organ failure and that is exactly where anyone like Nelson would want to be treated.On behalf of Nelson, we are asking for your help to support him with his battle against his heart disease as well as his other body organs that have been affected.
