Weʼve raised £84 to fund my (University Grad Film) Documentary

Funded on Tuesday, 2nd April 2019

    Story

A documentary exploring pole dancing as a form of performance art and female empowerment. Working with a group of women that dance for fitness and self-confidence, breaking the stigma surrounding pole dance and it's 'traditional stereotypes'.

A collaborative documentary with Chrome Pole Studio,  a pole fitness group that meets weekly in a dance studio in Chatham. The aim of the documentary is to show another side to this form of dance, giving the audiences an inside look behind the scenes and destroying the stereotypical views.

Previously common to erotic dance clubs predominately for men, Pole Dancing is popular as a mainstream form of fitness and amateur and professional pole dancing competitions are held in countries around the world. The documentary will engage with that fact that Pole Dance requires significant muscular endurance and coordination and will explore the contradictions between the sexual stereotype of the gentlemen’s club scenario and the women at the club who see it as a genuine form of exercise and fun.

What We'd Like & How We'd Thank You!

Your funds will help us with:

    - Travel expenses and catering

    - Location permissions and studio time

    - Running extra classes for filming

    - Festival Entry Fees

This documentary will be submitted as my grad film for my degree in (BA) Digital Film and Screen Arts (University for the Creative Arts, Farnham). Your donations would be extremely beneficial in these areas!
