In the summer of 2019, Darla (aged 16) will be taking park in a 21-day expedition to Madagascar with Outlook Expeditons and a team of fellow students from her school (Thomas Mills High School Sixth Form). On the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity she will be trekking, staying in villages, visiting the capital city Antanarivo and completing a community project.

As Darla’s parents we were delighted when she said she wanted to go. We have been lucky ourselves and had the chance to travel and we think it’s very important for young people growing up in the UK with all the priviledges that entails to go out and see how other people live who don’t have the benefits we have. We think she will be a braver, more independent person through this experIence.

She has to fundraise a lot of money, a trip like this is costly, but she has worked hard on a variety of fundraising events which are ongoing, currently she has raised about half the money but if anyone felt they would like to make an additional donation we will be very grateful and it will help Darla reach her total.
